STRANGE VESSEL NO. 2
STRANGE VESSEL NO. 2
RECENTLY I WAS GIFTED A STACK OF KIMONO FABRIC REMNANTS FROM MY GRANDMOTHER'S COLLECTION. ONE FABRIC IN PARTICULAR HAD A SWEET FLORAL PATTERN ALL OVER THAT INSPIRED ME TO DRAW UP THESE FLOWERS THAT YOU MAY HAVE STARTED TO NOTICE SHOWING UP IN MY RECENT WORK. I'M GUESSING THAT THEY REPRESENTED SOME SORT OF MUM FLOWER.
THE FIRST VESSEL OF THIS SERIES HAD A KIND OF KIMONO FABRIC LOOK TO IT WITH A COLORFUL MOTIF THAT SEEMS TO POP OFF OF ITS SOLID BASE AND I LOVED IT SO MUCH. STRANGE VESSEL NO. 2 KEEPS THAT LOOK GOING, A LOOK THAT FEELS PARTICULARLY ME - MY JAPANESE ROOTS AND MY LOVE OF THE AMERICAN SOUTHWEST.
